Welcome to our wilderness paradise on the banks of the Telkwa river with prime Steelhead and salmon fishing yards from the front door. We are the perfect fit for those looking for a secluded base to explore all that the Smithers area has to offer, with capacity for up to six people.
The Lodge is a 3200 square foot log home with all of the modern amenities. The rooms all have a queen size bed with side tables with rooms 1 & 2 having desks. The rooms look out over the garden with rooms 1 & 2 having sliding doors onto the balcony. In addition to your rooms and balconies, guests have access to the living space on the top floor from which their bedrooms branch off (we live on the bottom floor). This top floor is a living space for your enjoyment which includes a kitchenette with full fridge, microwave, 2-burner cooktop, kettle, coffee and tea, dining table and breakfast bar with garden views. The kitchen is fully stocked and there is a sink for washing dishes.
We have a wrap around deck, complete with comfy outdoor sectional, with the west side of the deck dedicated for your use. It gets lovely afternoon sun and is a great spot for a post adventure beer!
Beyond that, we have 10 acres to explore! This includes fire pits, hammocks, lawn games and riverfront trails. We have 1km of direct riverfront trails from the Lodge (with fishing access throughout), as well as another 6km of unmarked trails from the top of the property. The Telkwa river rec site is a short drive away with fishing spots dotted up and downstream. This is the perfect put in for kayakers / boaters who are taking on the challenging Telkwa River! Pick up/drop off available for a fee.
The Lodge is within easy daytrip distance of numerous world class rivers such as the Morice, Kispiox, and Skeena Rivers and only 10 minutes to the Bulkley River. The beautiful mountain town of Smithers is 20 minutes away for fantastic local food, breweries, live music, and shopping. Epic skiing, hiking, and mountain biking are also only a short distance away. Have a look at our Guidebook for more detail here. (**please note if visiting between September 1-October 31st fishing is for Canadian residents only on the Telkwa River but there is still plenty of fishing within a short drive on other rivers)
We live on the bottom floor of the home so you will see us around. We love meeting people from different walks of life and to hear about your travels/fishing stories! We also realize that you may just want to enjoy your own space and so we always make sure to give our guests plenty of room. It's a big property and Alecia will be in her garden and Archie in his shop at the top of the drive. One or both of us will be around the property during your stay and can help with any issues that come up.
We are in a small locality slightly out of Telkwa. There are a handful of properties with acreage around ours. It is a quiet area with no through traffic. We have lots of hiking trails straight from the property, many of them leading to the river. Our neighbours have horses and you may well see them on the trails. We have plenty of free parking on our premises. Guests should have their own mode of transport as we are 10 minutes drive from town. You will need this for exploring the vast outdoor playground on our doorstep!
We have two dogs on the property: Lochy (Golden Labrador) and Sydney (King Charles Cavalier/Mini Aussie cross). Both are very friendly and love new people, but vocal with new arrivals! It is important that our guests like dogs as they will roam around the property.
***Dogs are allowed on the property but not within the Lodge. Please make sure they can sleep in your vehicle and are comfortable staying outside. Alternatively, we have a room in one of the outbuildings and a dog crate that you are welcome to use. For the first meeting with our dogs we ask that they remain on leash.
**Please note we don't allow any breeds of fighting dogs. We're sure your dogs are absolutely lovely but unfortunately we've had bad experiences in the past and need to prioritize the safety of our pets.
*We have a glamping tent on the property under another listing. If this is booked during your stay you may see other guests on the trails around the property but it is a big place!
Fires: Please remember that during fire season, the province is subject to campfire bans.
Parking: We have ample parking for multiple vehicles and trailers.
