Welcome to our wilderness paradise on the banks of the Telkwa river with prime Steelhead and salmon fishing yards from the front door. We are the perfect fit for those looking for a bit of solitude whilst traveling the iconic Route 16 and Northern Circle Routes as well as those looking for a reliable, secluded base to explore all that the Smithers area has to offer.
The Lodge is a beautiful horse logged 3200 square foot pan abode log home with all the modern amenities and 10 acres of unspoiled wilderness to explore! Your accommodation is a peaceful, bright room with a desk, queen size bed and a private balcony overlooking the garden. The house features a wraparound deck with outdoor sectional, fire pit, hammocks, and lawn games.
Take a walk along our lovely riverfront trail to an abundant fishing pool where if you’re brave you can even swim (very cold!), or explore the miles of trails right from the property. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful vacation relaxing in a hammock in the garden or access to stunning backcountry and fishing spots dotted up and downstream we are the ideal base for a secluded wilderness getaway.
Within the room is a small desk with lamp, wardrobe, queen size bed with side tables & towel rack. The room looks out over the garden and car port on the west side of the house with sliding doors onto the balcony that overlooks the deck below. In addition to your room and balcony, you have access to the living space on the top floor from which your bedroom branches off (we live on the bottom floor). This top floor living space includes a kitchenette with full fridge, microwave, 2-burner cooktop, kettle, coffee and tea, dining table and breakfast bar with garden views! The kitchen is fully stocked and there is a sink for washing dishes.
We have a wrap around deck, complete with comfy outdoor sectional. Outside, we have 10 acres to explore! This includes fire pit, hammocks, lawn games and riverfront trails. All of this is for your use. The Telkwa river rec site is a short drive away with fishing spots scattered up and downstream. We live on the bottom floor of the home so you will see us around. One or both of us will be around the property during your stay and can help with any issues that come up.
We are in a small locality slightly out of town. There are a handful of properties with acreage around ours. It is a quiet area with no through traffic. We have plenty of free parking on our premises. Guests should have their own mode of transport as we are 10 minutes drive from town. You will need this for exploring the vast outdoor playground on our doorstep! The Lodge is within easy daytrip distance of numerous world class rivers such as the Morice, Kispiox, and Skeena Rivers and only 10 minutes to the Bulkley River.
The beautiful mountain town of Smithers is 20 minutes away for fantastic local food, breweries, live music, and shopping. Epic skiing, hiking, and mountain biking are also only a short distance away.
PLEASE DRIVE SLOWLY. We have two dogs on the property: Lochy (Golden Labrador) and Syd (King Charles Cavalier/Mini Aussie cross). Both are very friendly and love new people, but vocal with new arrivals! It is important that our guests like dogs as they will roam around the property but will not be upstairs in the guests' living area.
***Dog policy: Please note we don't allow any breeds of fighting dogs. We're sure your dogs are absolutely lovely but unfortunately we've had bad experiences in past and need to prioritize the safety of our pets and guests. Dogs are allowed on the property but not within the Lodge. Please make sure they can sleep in your vehicle and are comfortable staying outside. For the first meeting with our dogs we ask that they remain on leash. Pets may not be left unattended at any time.
* Please note that we have other rooms available and can accommodate up to 6 people at a time. Please message us for further info.
**Fishing: Please ensure you are fully aware of the fishing regulations for our area. It is your responsibility to have read and understood both the Federal and Provincial regulations.
***Fires: Please remember that during fire season, we are subject to campfire bans.
